The Consulate General of India, Hamburg provides various Consular Services to residents of Four Northern German States of Hamburg, Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein and Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony). Applicants residing in these German States may apply for the following Consular Services at the Consulate General of India, Hamburg:

I.Passport Services:

  • Re-issue of Indian Passport in lieu of Expiration of Validity (for Adults and Minors).(Within one year before date of expiry of Existing Passport).
  • Re-issue of Indian Passport in lieu of Exhaustion of Pages.
  • Re-issue of Indian Passport in lieu of Change of Personal Particulars.(i.e. Change of Name/Surname/Inclusion or Deletion of Spouse name etc.)
  • Re-issue of Indian Passport in lieu of Damaged Passport.
  • Issuance of a New Indian Passport in lieu of Lost Passport.
  • Issuance of Fresh Indian Passport to New Born Indian Children.(Indian Nationals by Descent, either of the Parents is an Indian National).
  • Re-issue of Indian Passport in lieu of Change of Appearance/Address.
  • Emergency Certificate.(One way travel document for Indian Nationals intended to return India due to Emergency reasons).
  • Citizenship Renunciation Certificate.(For Indian/Former Indian Nationals who have applied/acquired foreign Citizenship on or after 01.06.2010).

II.Visa Services:

VISA - Information

Information

Only applicants residing within the Consular jurisdiction of Consulate (Hamburg, Bremen, Lower Saxony and Schleswig Holstein) can apply their visa with the Consulate General of India, Hamburg at its premises at Kohlhöfen 21 20355 on any working day i.e. Monday to Friday from 1000 to 1130 hrs.

  1. With effect from January 1, 2023, the Indo German Consultancy Services will no longer be accepting visa applications or provide any consular services on behalf of the Consulate General of India, Hamburg. 

  2. Your passport must have a minimum validity of six months and two blank pages at the time of submission of visa application.

  3. Visa is valid from the date of issue. Acceptance of visa application and payment of visa fee does not automatically guarantee grant of a visa. Visa process may involve requisition of additional documentation/personal Interview. Visa can be rejected or validity curtailed without assigning any reason. In case of rejection of visa or restriction of validity or modification, visa fees will not be refunded.

  4. Visa applications can be submitted in person or by the authorised representative. Visa applications may be sent by Post; however, a self-addressed envelope for returning the passport with Indian visa is required to be attached with the documents. Stamp of Euro 4.50 may be affixed on the envelope. Please ensure that visa application is signed by the applicant, the photo pasted and the copies of necessary documents enclosed before submission. The Visa fees can be deposited in cash or through Bank transfer. Please refer to ‘Visa Fee’ under Visa Services. 
  1. Fee should be deposited only after ascertaining the correct type and period of visa applicable to the purpose of travel. The duration and number of entries granted to the applicant will be solely at the discretion of Consulate. No claims and correspondences shall be entertained in this regard.

  2. Applications are to be submitted along with a recent passport-size colour photograph (size 2" x 2", white background) and requisite documentation. Please also ensure that photograph is also uploaded while filling up the application online. A copy of the passport and national ausweis are also submitted alongwith the visa application and all other relevant documents.

  3. Applicants holding passports, other than German, must have a valid stay permit for at least two years in Germany for grant of Business and Employment visas. For all other visas (except Business and Employment visas), stay permit of at least one year will be required.

  4. All applicants should ensure the correct details in their visas immediately on delivery/collection, and in case of discrepancies, the same should be brought to the attention of the issuing authority without delay. Failing to do so, Consulate bears no responsibility for any consequences faced later on.

  5. Applicants have to fill an online application on web page: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/ only after carefully going through the instructions listed on the web page.

NOTE: Consulate General of India, Hamburg does not deal with e-Visa. E-Visa is a centralised process coordinated by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. For further information, please visit https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/

E-Visa Applications

Nationals of Germany and of other eligible countries can also apply for E-Visa under different categories (e-Tourist, e-Business, e-Medical, e-Medical Attendant and e-Conference) at Government of India website https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html

Advisory:The applicants may note that the Consulate does not process e-Visa applications. Enquiries related to e-Visas may be made directly on the e-Visa portal. It may also be noted that e-Visa involves online application for which no facilitation is required by any intermediary/agent etc. For any clarification or doubt about e-Visas, applicants may write an email to indiatvoa@gov.in or contact e-Visa Helpdesk at +91-11-24300666 (24x7).

III.Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Services:

  • Issuance of Fresh OCI Card to eligible applicants.
  • Conversion of valid PIO Card in to OCI Card.
  • OCI Miscellaneous Services (Chargeable).
  • Re-issue of OCI Card in lieu of Change of Personal Particulars of Applicant.(i.e. Change of Name, Change of Nationality etc.)
  • Re-issue of OCI Card in lieu of Lost/Damaged OCI Card.
  • OCI Miscellaneous Services (Gratis).
  • Update new German/Foreign Passport details online under existing OCI Card.(Without issuance of a new OCI Card/Lifelong Visa Sticker).
  • Update new German Address details online under existing OCI Card.

IV.Other Miscellaneous Consular Services:

  • Registration of Birth of a New Born Child (under section 4(1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955). One of the parents must be an Indian national.
  • Attestation of Power of Attorney (Indian & Foreign Nationals).
  • Attestation of Civil German/Foreign Documents.
  • Attestation of Commercial German/Foreign Documents.
  • Attestation of Indian Public or Educational Documents.

(The document should be pre-attested/apostilled by Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi or Branch Secretariat of MEA).

  • Attestation of Affidavits/Declarations/Authorization Letters etc. (Indian Nationals).
  • Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) to Indian Nationals.
  • Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) to Foreign Nationals.

(For the period of applicant’s stay in India).

  • Certificate stating Date & Place of Birth as per Indian Passport.
  • Certificate stating Spouse Name as per Indian Passport.

(Spouse name must be incorporated in applicant’s Indian Passport).

  • Certificate stating Change of Name as per Indian Passport
  • Attestation of Life Certificate for Pensioners/POA Executors.
  • Certificate for Transportation of Ashes or Dead Body of a deceased person to India.
  • No Objection Certificate for Intended Name of New Born Child.
